Salmon fishing – fishing vacation
Welcome to one of the most pristine natural paradises in the world! A diversity of climatic zones supports an intricate eco-system of mammal and marine life.

With vast expanses of natural habitat, this area is home to some of the best Steelhead, Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, Chum and Pink salmon fishing in the world. Freshwater angling adventures are only minutes away from Terrace.

Although some lakes are home to only one species of fish, others may contain upwards of a dozen such as Rainbow Trout, Kokanee, Lake Trout, Dolly Varden, Mountain Whitefish, Lake Whitefish and Burbot. The fall months herald the arrival of Steelhead, Sockeye, Chinook and Coho Salmon on their spawning runs.

If the weather is cold enough to freeze the lakes, you can fish all year long. Lakelse Lake is a year-round recreational lake that hosts an array of winter sports. Smaller lakes are also good for ice fishing however the rivers are not recommended as they are too swift.

Saltwater fishing for halibut, ocean salmon, crabs, etc., is only a short drive away to either the Douglas Channel in Kitimat or the Pacific Ocean in Prince Rupert.

Did you know? The world record for catching (and releasing) a 99-pound Chinook Salmon is held by a visiting German tourist who had her first fishing experience in the Skeena River in 2001. Previously, the world-record was a 92 pound Chinook salmon.
