Biking - Intermediate Trails
Red Sand Lake (easy aerobic)
From Terrace drive west to the West Kalum Forestry Road (just past the Tempo Gas bar). Follow this road for 26km to the demonstration forest site. Many little trails.
- 5 km loops with lots of roots and bridges
- annual root shoot each May long week-end
Twin Spruce Trail (easy aerobic)
Located in the Lakelse Lake Provincial Park campround, south of Terrace, with the trail head starting across from the information board. Trail winds through old growth forest.
- a single track trail
- this may be restricted to hikers only, please check with the campground caretakers
Pine Lakes (moderate aerobic)
Take the West Kalum Forestry Road (just past the Tempo Gas bar) north for 11km.
- a 6 km loop around Pine Lakes
- lots of roots, bridges, twists and turns
The Powerlines (moderate aerobic)
Access points are on Beamstation Road off of Queensway, on Highway 37 towards Kitimat, Old Lakelse Lake Road, and at the junction of Parmenter Avenue, Furlong Avenue, Hagen Street and Walker Street.
- often muddy, these logging roads run under the power lines past the airport from Hwy 37 to Old Lakelse Lake Road
- extend past the golf course to continue down to lower Thornhill
Copper Mountain (Pack Horse Trail) (difficult aerobic)
Following Old Lakelse Lake Road out towards Jackpine Flats for 6km, you will get to the Thornhill Dump. 800m past the dump is the Copper Mountain Road (there is a house and a gravel parking area). Many trails branch off the logging road.
- a killer climb up the logging road leading to a fun downhill along an old skidder trail
Lower Terrace Mountain Trails (difficult aerobic)
Trailheads are located at Johnston Street and Walsh Avenue and also at the end of Munthe Avenue.
- includes Marcel’s trail and other lesser known trails of the popular Terrace Mountain multi-use trail (watch out for hikers)
